Ashwagandha — The King of Adaptogens
Withania somnifera. Traditionally: strengthens ojas (vital essence), builds resilience against stress, improves sleep and cognitive function. Modern research: cortisol reduction, thyroid support, testosterone modulation, anti-inflammatory. Dosage: 300-600mg root extract standardised to 5% withanolides. Take at night with warm milk.
Brahmi — The Brain Tonic
Bacopa monnieri. Traditionally: enhances memory, intelligence, and concentration. Modern research: significant improvement in memory recall and cognitive performance in controlled trials, anxiolytic effects, neuroprotective. Dosage: 300-450mg standardised extract. Takes 4-6 weeks for full effect.
The Triphala Foundation
The foundational Ayurvedic formula: equal parts Amalaki (Vitamin C, antioxidant, liver tonic), Bibhitaki (respiratory, cholesterol), and Haritaki (digestive, laxative, rejuvenating). One of the most extensively studied Ayurvedic formulations. Take 1 tsp in warm water before bed.
